The Red Chord - Fed Through The Teeth Machine - Album Review

If a band desires a real chance at long term success then developing their own sound and sticking to your brand is a must. For instance, modern metal bands like Job For A Cowboy, Suicide Silence, and Despised Icon have created a trade mark sound that puts each of these bands in the running for a real chance at longevity. The Red Chord obviously understand this concept and excel at their own unique sound. Their new album, Fed Through The Teeth Machine lives up to the same high standards they set for themselves on Clients and Prey For Eyes and puts them in great position for a healthy career.

On this new record, The Red Chord seem to have a chip on their shoulder and this built up frustration presents itself beautifully in pure death metal mastery. In the bands press release, vocalist Guy Kozowyk states, "We're jaded, bitter, old men and we wrote a record that is vicious and heavy because we have a lot to be pissed about. I am too old to understand or respect a lot of whats going on out there in music. And to be honest, I don't want to get whats going on because it sucks." For those who share in this exact sentiment, consider Fed Through The Teeth Machine a gift.

The Red Chord have always been able to put together an intelligent blend of all the traditional "core" sounds mixed with their own "special sauce." Fed Through The Teeth Machine opens up like a sonic fury spewed from the devils mouth at a 194 decibels. The Red Chord show their genius as they musically build high amounts of tension with an eerie atmosphere, only to tear you down with original choppy breaks. The guitar playing by Mike "Gunface" Mckenzie is nothing short of an epic guitar Jedi clinic. Tracks like "Demorilizer" and "Hour of Rats" are an example of those rare tracks that bring in a gust of fresh air into a smokey stale scene.

The Red Chord have created their staple sound and it is great to say the least. Though they may sometimes fly under the radar, this is one of the best bands out today. 2009 has been a year when all the top bands have released respectable follow ups, and The Red Chord easily make the cut. Get Fed Through The Teeth Machine and it will chew you up, send you through a brutal digestion process, and ultimately dispose of you in a porcelain throne like the limp and fragile turd that you are.

Score 7.5/10

Very good live, maybe to "heavy" for GWAR fans though

great review man, gotta agree when you say this band knows exactly how to keep their sound consistent and long lasting. Ive loved all there albums, maybe their first one more than any but this one is definitely "a gift" for people who are so sick of the tired scene boner clone bands that get more attention than great stuff like this. This album is a death grind masterpiece and although thats the ususal business with this band, they still somehow make all their albums stand apart form eachother.

I totally agree with anonymous, now stop posting anonymous; I'm trashed. This is my best attempt on proper punctuation and spelling. And to the goat put up a fuckin Hatebreed review so I can rip you a new one on your weak rating.

DC,why are you trashed on a Tuesday? lol There will be no Hatebreed review but my rating would be a 5.9/10, and thats a generous rating. If you want to hear a good album, check out the new Nirvana album, Live At Reading.
